I need to know if Microsoft Student (with Encarta) is useful for a University Student, bearing in mind I already have the normal Microsoft office suite.
Is microsoft Student really worth it, for a University Student .. or is it more for High School Kids?network
No the only thing you would be getting is encarta since you already have the rest.
Even that's not a big deal with the rise of wikipedia, encarta is being left behind because they do not have the freedom to update and revise like wikipedia does.
You would be better off just buying encarta by itself, if you were set on it (you would also get more content). Student releases are lacking in certain ways (most of the time) that's part of the reason it is cheaper.
Also what do you mean the "normal office suite" there are like 10 different versions now including vista's and XP which do you have?

I am assumeing you mean microsoft office student and teacher edition if that is so my daughter who is in collage has to have it and says it is very handy for her.
I thought it was cheaper because Microsoft is trying to get the whole world to use its software. What better way than to give deep discounts to high school %26 college students and teachers? Didn't Microsoft also *cough cough* voluntarily decide to give away free licenses to some schools as a result of some of their anti-trust monopoly lawsuits?
If you already have the normal Microsoft Office Suite, then don't bother.
