you could try looking online for like a training packet, but i tought myself simply by messing around with the programs, powerpoints great for that
I teach MS Office......most people only use about 10% of what it can do.... and most of the time, it's enough for their use. The best way to try to learn on your own is to 'buy a MS Office" book.... one that's MS Certified - will show you a lot of the tools.

The other important thing is that "if you don't use it, you lose it" so it's important to create a real "project" for yourself.... whether it's a checking account in Excel or resumes in Word..... A checking account in Excel is usually the first exercise I give as it will help you research HOW to do different things and it something you can use every day.

MS Office is very powerful when you utilize a lot of the tools and understand how it all integrates. Try typing a letter and translating it to another language.... it's fun... If you have broadband, MS Office 2003 and up integrates with the internet flawlessly......
