Save the .wpd document on your computer. Open up Word and then File/Open. Select the .wpd (make sure you select seeing All Files...) double click it - there will be a conversion from the WordPerfect format into Word. I'd save the document as a .doc.

If you are just concerned about text... save your documents as an ".rtf" or rich text file. Both programs can open this base text format.
