Disadvantages:

1) Price - Any licensing avenue will likely cost even the smallest of offices thousands of dollars, and will need to be paid again when new versions come out.

2) Target - When the ugly people of this world develop viruses, etc, they like to target Microsoft products and their vulnerabilities.

3) Operating System - One version for Windows, one version for Mac OS. Documents are usable across systems, but you have to have a different program for each.
