just started college and need microsoft office for my comp at home but dont have 500 pound 2 spend on it or however much it is these days. anyway can any1 help me?

Hi. Are you sure you actually need Microsoft Office. The current version is over $300 US dollars.

Microsoft Works is cheaper (usually around $40 US dollars.

Or you could consider going with a later version of Office such as Office 2000:

Try open office it will automatically convert the files even. And it is free. Gotta love Sun trying to put it to MS.

I don't know where you live, but I bought a MS Office version years ago for about $100 US at a computer show, check one out. Also, try Ebay. Ebay sells disks really cheap without the documentation though.
There's no such thing as a cheap Microsoft package. You can download "Open Office" free. It's very compatible with "Office" applications and won't even cost you a few shillings. :-). http://download.openoffice.org/
